SA needs social cohesion and a new social compact
It is by now quite clear that South Africa is facing enormous challenges. Nationally and locally. At the Centre for Public Witness, we believe that there is a need to focus on two issues in particular, namely a new social compact (contract) and increased social cohesion. Both cases form the basis for many other forms of recovery, such as our fight against poverty and a struggling economy, as well as (violent) crime.
Dr. Braam Hanekom is the director of the Centre for Public Witness and has visited over 40 towns in South Africa to address exactly these issues. On November 24, he will be visiting Ladismith to talk to some community leaders about the way forward for the town.
