Plan vir haweloses in Bellville, Durbanville, Kraaifontein

In samewerking met MES (Mould Empower Serve)

(Scroll down for English)

As daar enige vrae is, kontak braam@kaapkerk.co.za. Hoop om spoedig van julle te hoor!

Plan for the homeless in Durbanville, Bellville, Kraaifontein

In collaboration with MES (Mould Empower Serve)

Lately, we have been pondering about our offer as believers regarding the homelessness challenge in these areas. Several meetings involving relevant role players occurred and a short, medium and long-term strategy started to take shape. We are well aware of the challenges and also fears that exist in congregations to get involved. However, we would like to make the following two requests.

1. We require a number of congregations to provide access to their halls to house the homeless on a rotational basis. This will be for a maximum of 3 nights during severe storms. Please see the attached agreement that protects the congregation and also clarifies what is expected and what is NOT expected. We fully understand that there are congregations whose halls are already being rented out.

The agreement can be downloaded by clicking on the file below.

2. We need a “bank of volunteers” who can be trained and then approached to serve for limited hours during these events.

MES will still do all the coordination, but we simply cannot put all the logistical pressure on them alone. In the meantime, we are grateful to say that a number of other churches in our area are buying in. So this is becoming a wonderful ecumenical exercise.

If there are any questions, please feel free to contact braam@kaaperk.co.za. Hope to hear from you soon.
