An after-hours safe space for children
We all know that older children in Kleinmond are facing a massive challenge because there is no high school in the town. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted this challenge in many ways.

We also know that a proper education asks for more than the completion of a curriculum. In Kleinmond we see too many children coming from poor households who return home (after a long day) without internet or an environment conducive to learning.
The Hope and Reconciliation Trust believe they are part of the answer.
That is why they set up an after-hours learning centre on the grounds of Mthumkhulu Community Development. This centre will run in conjunction with the schools learners are already attending, in order to assist and support them with their studies.
This after-hours learning centre officially opened its doors on 6 April 2021 and the learners were welcomed this week.
