An after-hours safe space for children

We all know that older children in Kleinmond are facing a massive challenge because there is no high school in the town. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted this challenge in many ways.

We also know that a proper education asks for more than the completion of a curriculum. In Kleinmond we see too many children coming from poor households who return home (after a long day) without internet or an environment conducive to learning.

The Hope and Reconciliation Trust believe they are part of the answer.

That is why they set up an after-hours learning centre at MTHIMKHULU. This centre will run in conjunction with the schools learners are already attending, in order to assist and support them with their studies.

This after-hours learning centre officially opened its doors on 6 April 2021 and the learners were welcomed this week.
