A prayer for South Africa during COVID-19

Almighty God and Heavenly Father

We worship You as Father, Son and Holy Spirit

At this time of trial, we approach You with gratitude and deep humility

Thank you for the loving and merciful God you are

Thank you that we may know You

Thank you for Your undeserved kindness and favour over so many years

We give You all the glory

In this hour of crisis, we bow in deep dependence and humility before You

Lord we believe that we are in Your hand and that You can bring rest and tranquility

We humble ourselves before You

We confess that we have lived too recklessly for years and have often cared too little

We confess that we have been indifferent to You and others and Your creation

Still, we plead for Your mercy and grace

Of course, we want to intercede for our friends, family and those close to us

But we especially want to come and pray for the vulnerable, the exposed, the poor...

We want to pray for those who are struggling physically and emotionally. For the anxious and the disheartened.

We pray for our elderly and children

We pray for the leaders who must guide us and make decisions in these days

Lord have mercy on us

In Your time and Your way

You know what we need

We believe that everything will work out for the best...

We believe that nothing can separate us from Your love

Lord I pray that You will provide rest and peace for all who share in this prayer.

Lord, “when anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy” (Psalm 94:19)
